About Me – Sammie behind Feasting Is Fun. Find out more about me and why I set up this blog.
Hi, I’m Sammie, the woman behind Feasting is Fun and letting you know a little bit About Me. While passionate about baking and cooking good, homemade food, I am even more passionate about encouraging others. Especially turning their fear into fun in the kitchen. Creating delicious feasts they are proud to share.

Married to my wonderful husband and we have 3 amazing, growing up way too fast, children. While I enjoy cooking and baking for them, unfortunately this has become more of a challenge recently, see below.
Jesus is the centre of my life, this blog shares His central message of love. For by sharing ourselves, our time and our resources we are showing His love.
Also my daily life involves dealing with chronic pain, frequent migraines, Fibromyalgia and more recently seizures, see here. Yet it is my Faith that gets me through.
Each day, for me is different. There are days when I cry, when the pain seems too much and even when I’m frustrated by my own body – some of these will be honestly documented on my blog.
To a large extent I have had to adapt my cooking, for example I can’t stand for long so that has an impact on which recipes, etc I can create/follow.
Cooking/baking relaxes me. I can use my creative skills and also feel useful. Making meals/treats for my family, friends, loved ones and neighbours is one of the ways I can show them my love.
Carrying out product reviews:
Also as part of this blog, product reviews and recipe development is carried out. Please see my Disclosure policy.
I enjoy carrying out reviews and challenge myself to create new recipes that show a product’s diversity. If I have another ingredient or item of kitchen ware, I need to make sure it earns it’s place. Because space is always limited in my kitchen!
See one of my reviews of the Andrew James Waffle Maker.

While carrying out reviews my aim is to be as honest as I can. When reviewing kitchen equipment I really put each product through its paces. However, if reviewing an edible product, I challenge myself to create new recipes that showcase the very best flavours within the product I am using.
The result on the blog is a great mix of unique recipes, created by me. Importantly, each recipe is written in a clear, easy to follow manner, accompanied by step by step photographs. Importantly each recipe is rigorously tested and reliable.
While product reviews are honest, thorough and may surprise you. Having tendency to show diversity of a product can end up with some interesting recipes included in the review. Gin ice cream anyone?
The recipes:
Each recipe has its foundation in good, not faffy, homemade food. Where possible seasonal vegetables are used and higher welfare meat, such as free range or organic is included. I hold a very strong belief that eating a smaller portion of well cared for, happy animals is far better than plates full of mass produced meat, from animals in cramped and unnatural conditions.
I hope you enjoy the range of recipes from cookies, cakes, bread, meals, drinks and plenty more.

Blogging: Challenges And Rewards
Since starting this blog, I have many times allowed myself to be forced out of my comfort zone. An example of this is the gluten free lemon cake below. Made to accompany the main wedding cake, for a friend’s wedding. Yet, while making and decorating it, I achieved lots of firsts. Covering a cake board in fondant, covering a buttercream coated 3 layer cake in fondant. And finally making the sugar paste roses. All of these accomplishments were firsts for me. I’m so pleased with how the cake turned out. More importantly the bride and groom loved it and it hit all the right buttons taste wise.

For me, regardless of what my body is putting me through on any particular day, I have a body of work that I am proud of. Almost all of the recipes are created from scratch, by me. Likewise, the photography, writing, editing and washing up, are all carried out with very little input from others. In fairness, there is usually one if our brood hanging around, offering to help wash or tidy up. And sometimes they are called upon to be hand models or take photographs whilst I carry out a certain task.
Their reward, of course, is being my chief taste testers! And they can be brutally honest.
